Local broadcast reaches world via Web
By Angie Long

Carolyn Griffin, evangelist with Warrior Ministries, is one of the hosts of a weekly Sunday afternoon broadcast from the studios of WGYV Radio in Greenville. Internet capabilities allow the local broadcast to be heard all over the world.

Greenville is a small town and WGYV, a small radio station. However, through the “magic” of the World Wide Web, a new Christian broadcasting program is sending its message out to the masses each week.

The Kingdom Building Broadcasting Network (KBBN) has taken over the airwaves of WGYV from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. each Sunday.

The format, which features local ministers, psalmists, singing groups and information on community interest events, has already drawn sponsors from as far away as Mobile, Tennessee, Atlanta and Jacksonville, Florida, said radio host and evangelist, Carolyn Griffin of Warrior Ministries.

“The station only has a 20- to 25-mile broadcast radius, but the Internet means we can reach listeners all over the world,” Griffin said.

“We've got the program up and going and we are very excited. God is moving - and we are going with the flow.”

Griffin said KBBN has a five-fold ministry that is based on Ephesians 4:11-12. The scripture states, “And he gave some, apostles; and some prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.”(KJV)

“All of this is encompassed in our program. It's something different and fresh and not simply another gospel music program,” Griffin said.

“It is definitely a work in progress. As the name implies, we are working together to build the kingdom of God; crossing over boundaries of race, gender and denominations to come together.”

Griffin says the overall goal of the broadcast is to reach out to the community at large.

“We want to lift up Jesus so all people, from every walk of life, can be drawn to Him.”

KBBN's Sunday afternoon programming lineup as of January 28 includes: Pastor Scott Miller of St. Paul Baptist Church in Greenville; Prophetess Lola Moore of New Beginnings Deliverance Ministries of Monroeville; Pastor Jim Helms of Call to Life Worship Center in Greenville; Pastor Cecelia Adams of House of Prayer Ministries in Greenville; Prophetess Dimple McInvale of Dimple McInvale Ministries in Georgiana; Bishop Richard Dean of Higher Ground Ministries of Montgomery, and Bishop Henry Frye Jr. of Kelly Temple Holiness Church in Greenville.

Griffin and Deacon Daniel Robinson open and close the programming lineup each week.

“As our days grow longer, we may extend our programming time. We are just excited about this venture and the opportunities to reach the community for Christ and beyond,” Griffin said.

The broadcasts can be accessed live via radio or the Internet at www.warrior-ministries.org or www.wgyv.com, where archives are also available for listening at future dates.
